I just heard that author Tom Clancy died yesterday. I have never read any of his books, but I know he was very popular. I've heard many of his fans suspect he actually didn't write the last couple of books in the Jack Ryan series, so perhaps he has been ill for awhile. I know what a disappointment it can be when a different author takes over writing a series for a deceased author. You can definitely tell the difference.

Yep I was sad to hear of Tom Clancy's death earlier today. I haven't read any of his books for a while, but I enjoyed some of his early stuff such as Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot GAmes and Some of All Fears.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Tom Clansy was a pseudanim under which his books were written by multiple authors, similar to James Axler's Outlanders, the individual books of which were written by Mark Ellis, Victor Milan, and Mel Odom.

I didn't know he was that old yet.

He was actually only 66 years old when he died, and it's a major blow to the book-readers community! He really was one heck of an author.

Post 3: tom Clancy was not a pseudanim. However, as of late, he has been writing many of his books with the aid of other authors. In fact, it has been argued that the books in the new Jack Ryan series may for the most part not even have had much input from Tom Clancy, but that was never actually verified for certain.
